Wednesday, April 15th’s Hometown Hero is Brandi Romines of Lexington!
Brandi, owner of Happy as a Lark Cakes, was nominated by her neighbor Lana Moore. Lana says “Brandi is always coordinating the best activities for kids in our neighborhood, from Halloween to Easter parties. This year she created a zipline from her front porch to a tree by her sidewalk. Putting sanitized Easter treats in Ziploc bags she ziplined them to the kids walking by. She even had a sign up genius so all the kids did not come at once. The Easter bunny was even on her front porch to wave at the kids. She does amazing things for our community.”
Brandi, in response to the nomination, said – “Welp, I’m officially ugly crying, ha. Thank you so much. I’m certainly not a hero; however, I love my community and I love the kids and neighbors so I really don’t feel like I’m doing anything deserving of recognition. I grew up in a small town, and it’s so important to me for my kids to grow up seeing what it’s like to invest in the people that live around you, their neighbors, be servant leaders. Be someone that brings people together! I’m blessed to live in Autumn Ridge, everyone here is always on board to jump in and help when I have my crazy ideas, lol. We had a number of families donate money to our zipline event, who don’t even have small children at home any more. So it’s easy to do these things when you live amongst people like that. It’s true it takes a village and my family and I are blessed to live in a pretty amazing place.”
